Free-agent Cameroonian striker Georges Mfegue has revealed his feelings of disappointment about parting ways with Ghana Premier League powerhouse, Asante Kotoko.
After the conclusion of his contract, Asante Kotoko opted not to extend a new deal to Mfegue, leaving him without a place in the squad for the upcoming football season.
In a candid reflection on his departure from Asante Kotoko, the 27-year-old expressed his sentiments, stating, “I gave my best in the three seasons I spent here. I’m not happy leaving because I love this club (Kotoko) too much, but it’s normal in football. You do your work, you leave for others too to continue,” he said in an exclusive interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
Having made a significant impact since joining Kotoko from Avion FC in October 2021, Mfegue played a pivotal role in securing the team’s 25th GPL title.
He contributed eight goals and four assists in his debut season, followed by three goals in his second season and an assist in his third season.
Throughout his three-year spell at Asante Kotoko, Georges Mfegue featured in a total of 64 games across all competitions.
