Ethiopia international forward Abubeker Nassir is set to test his skills with Asante Kotoko in a one-week trial next week, according to local media reports.
The 24-year-old, who recently parted ways with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns, has been invited to Ghana to assess his ability to fit into the Ghana Premier League record champions’ squad.
The mercurial Ethiopian talent has been identified as a potential addition to Kotoko’s team ahead of the upcoming season, following a trophy-less campaign in the just-ended season.
Nassir, nicknamed the “Golden Boy of East African football”, has a impressive CV, having scored 29 goals in 22 Ethiopian Premier League matches in the 2021/22 season.
During his time at Sundowns, Nassir made 18 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals.
He was also part of the Ethiopia squad that took part in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.
He has made 21 appearances for the Ethiopian national team, scoring five times since making his debut in 2019.
