Former Asante Kotoko captain, Danlad Ibrahim, has dismissed reports suggesting he had a strained relationship with coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, saying the two have a cordial understanding.
The Ghanaian goalkeeper, who recently parted ways with the club after eight years, stated that his decision to leave was a joint decision made with the coach, the IMC, and himself.
In an interview with Onua TV, Danlad emphasized that he has no issue with Coach Ogum and appreciates the tactician’s understanding of his capabilities and contributions to the team off the pitch.“Coach Ogum understands me and knows my capabilities.
Again, he knows how I helped the team off the pitch. My exit from Kotoko isn’t solely Ogum’s decision. My decision to quit the club is a joint one with the coach, the IMC, and myself.
We reached a responsible conclusion and decided it was time for me to leave the club”The former Ghana youth international also cautioned against making assumptions about what transpired before his departure, stating that as a player, it’s essential to maintain a good relationship with the coach as one never knows where they will end up again.
“No one knows what transpired before my departure so they have every right to say anything but truth be told, I have no issue with coach Ogum.
As a player you can never have issues with your coach because you never know where you will be again”With his contract expired, Danlad is expected to find a new club before the start of the 2024/25 football season.
