Hearts of Oak have seen their hopes of swooping for Abdul Fatawu Hamidu hit by the emergence of Asante Kotoko in the race to sign the Medeama defender.
Fatawu was a standout performer for the Tarkwa-based club in the CAF Champions League campaign as well as the Ghana Premier League. His scintillating performances have earned him call-ups into the Black Stars in recent times.
However, according to Kickgh.com, both Hearts of Oak and Kotoko have shown keen interest in the highly-rated defender. Our source further revealed that, the Phobians have held several talks with his entourage but are yet to officially contact Medeama to discuss a fee.
Both Hearts and Kotoko are aiming to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season, having had a bad 2023/24 season.
Hamidu, 25, made 19 appearances for Medeama in the league last season, scoring once and providing four assists.
He has also made one appearance for the Black Stars in a friendly game against Liberia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
