Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Moise Pouaty has revealed that he was willing to renew his contract with the club, but was ultimately not in the plans of the coaching staff.
The 28-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper, who joined the Kumasi-based club in 2022, had his contract expire and was released as part of a significant overhaul by the team.
Pouaty, who played 6 games for the Porcupines over two seasons, conceding 7 goals and keeping 2 clean sheets, expressed his disappointment at not being able to extend his stay with the club.
“It’s not like I had another contract, my contract ended and they didn’t want to renew and that’s the reality and not like we parted ways, my contract just finished,” he told Ghanasportspage.com during an interview with Sir Martin.
“It’s not like I didn’t want to extend my contract. The coaches and the IMC had another plan and decided not to renew, and that’s how it is everywhere”
The release of Pouaty is one of several changes being made by Kotoko as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2023/24 season.
