Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Moise Pouaty has shared his thoughts on the unpredictability of football and the importance of patience from fans.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper, who played for the Kumasi-based club from 2022 to 2024, believes that setbacks are a natural part of the game.
Pouaty compared football to war, stating that it’s unrealistic to expect to win every day.
“When going to war, you can’t tell your mind you are going to fail, and things happen differently just like in normal life, you prepare and plan everything but things are not going like you planned, that’s the reality, the chance that I had was not okay because I can’t play alone when things are not going well in the team, when things are difficult is normal that it is not your day,” he said in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper also highlighted the difference between white and black footballers, suggesting that the former tend to understand the game better due to their experience and patience.
“The difference between the white man and the black man is huge, the white man understands football more than we [blacks] because they know that things come with time, there are people that perform in their first year and the others will take two to three years to be the best so all of these we have to be patient especially the fans”, Pouaty told ghanasportspage.com during an interview with Sir Martin.
Pouaty emphasized the importance of patience, especially for fans. “We can’t win every day, remember when Asante Kotoko was winning a while back, there were some team which were not doing well so yes, there are ups and downs, we just need to understand that,” he said. “Today is not good tomorrow will be fine, if not tomorrow it will be the day after.”
Pouaty was among the 21- players who have been released by the club as they are making significant changes to bounce back next season after a disappointing 2023/24 season.
Moise Pouaty managed six games in two seasons, conceding seven times and keeping two clean sheets.
