Hearts of Oak are set to undergo a major revamp ahead of the new season, with the club looking to part ways with underperforming players and build a more formidable squad.
The Phobian Club struggled in the just-ended 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, finishing at the 14th position with 45 points.
The team’s poor performance was capped off on the final day of the season, where they managed to secure a 3-2 win against Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, just enough to avoid relegation.
However, it was clear that the team needed a shake-up to compete with the best teams in the league.
According to a source who spoke to Graphic Sports, Hearts of Oak are planning to recruit new players to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
“Hearts of Oak is set for a major overhaul,” the source revealed. “We intend to part ways with underperforming players and build a more formidable squad capable of competing for titles next season.”
The club’s management is determined to bring in players who can make a significant impact on the team, and it seems likely that several players will be shown the door.
The exact number of players who will be leaving is not yet known, but it’s clear that Hearts of Oak are willing to take drastic measures to improve their chances of success.
Before the new season kicks off, Hearts of Oak will face their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the inaugural Democracy Cup on July 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
