Ghana coach Otto Addo has expressed optimism about his team’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) despite being drawn into a challenging group alongside Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
The Black Stars were paired with Angola, Sudan, and Niger in Group F of the qualifiers for the tournament that will be hosted in Morocco next year.
Speaking to the Ghana FA website, Addo acknowledged that the group is tough but remains confident in his team’s abilities.
“Surely, we believe in ourselves to qualify from this group. But it’s going to be tough,” he said. “To begin with Angola, I think they have a very, very good squad. I think they had a good AFCON but went out after losing 1-0 to Nigeria; they did really, really well in that match, I watched it.”
Addo highlighted Angola’s strong performance in the COSAFA Cup and their recent results in World Cup qualification matches, emphasizing that they cannot be underestimated.
“It’s going to be tough, it’s going to be close but like I said I have a strong belief that we can succeed against them,” he added.
The qualifiers are set to kick off in September later this year, and Addo is determined to lead his team to success despite the challenges ahead.
