Head coach for Angola, Pedro Goncalves has picked Ghana and his side to qualify for the 2025 AFCON from Group F.
The Black Antelopes will kick off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign away against four-time champions, followed by another clash against Sudan during the week of September 2-10, 2024.
In October, Ghana will face Sudan twice, first hosting the 1970 African champions in Kumasi and then travelling for the return leg between October 7-15, 2024. The Angolan national team will also face Niger in a double header in the same month.
Coach Goncalves will wrap up their run for the ticket against Ghana at home in November as they hope to qualify for their 10th AFCON appearance.
Analysing the group, the Portuguese tactician tipped Ghana to finish first, picking his side to place second.
“The favourite is Ghana. They are third best African team at the AFCON so they are the favourites. But we also believe that we have the chance to achieve or book a ticket for the AFCON.
“Ghana and Angola have the chance to qualify but we must respect Sudan and also Niger. Sudan are currently leading their World Cup qualifiers group ahead of Senegal so it’s not easy. They are also one-time champions of Africa so we have to respect them.
“Niger also have a good side so I believe that all the national teams have the chance. It will be a balanced group and I believe Angola will qualify but Ghana are the favourites to top the group,” Coach Goncalves told Ghanasportspage.
