Ghananian champions Hasaacas Ladies have been drawn into a challenging group in the 2024 WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, which commences early next month.
The ‘Hasmal Ladies’ will be returning to the continental stage since 2021, after winning the 2023/24 Ghana Women’s Premier League title by defeating bitter rivals Ampem Darkoa Ladies 2-1.
This victory has earned them a spot in the West African qualifying series, where they will compete against other top teams from the region to secure a spot in the main competition.
Hasaacas Ladies have been placed in Group B alongside Nigerian champions Edo Queens, AS Grade Nationale from Niger, and Burkinabe side Ominisports Entichele.
The ‘Doo’ ladies have a rich history in the CAF Women’s Champions League, having made it all the way to the final in the maiden edition in 2021. Although they ultimately lost to current holders Sundowns Ladies from South Africa, they are looking to redeem themselves this year.
Despite the absence of head coach Yussif Basigi, who is currently with the Black Princesses preparing for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Hasaacas Ladies remain confident of making a strong impression in Cote D’Ivoire.
The WAFU Zone B qualifiers will take place from August 10-23, 2024, and Hasaacas Ladies will be determined to prove themselves against some of the toughest opponents in West Africa.
