Former Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom has expressed his desire to rejoin his former club, Asante Kotoko, before retiring from football.
Currently, without a club following the expiration of his contract with Hearts of Oak at the end of the 2022/23 season, Inkoom remains determined to fulfill one last wish in his career.
“I am always grateful to God for not getting any major injury throughout my career, but I’ve not retired from football yet,” Inkoom shared in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
“I keep on saying that I want to play for Asante Kotoko again before I retire. Not necessarily playing every minute, but even if it’s one minute for me to hold the shirt and say I’ve retired from football, that is what I want. Everybody knows I am a fan of Asante Kotoko.”
He added, “I want to tell the fans that I will come back and retire at Asante Kotoko.”
Inkoom was a key player for Asante Kotoko and was part of the 2008 team that won the Ghana Premier League. The right-back played 26 games for the Porcupine Warriors in the 2008/09 season before moving to Swiss giants FC Basel, where he won two league titles and the Swiss Cup.
On the international stage, Inkoom achieved significant success with Ghana’s national teams, including winning the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup with the Black Satellites.
