Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, George Owu, has offered a piece of valuable advice to the current players at the club.
In an interview with former Fox FM foreign news caster, Saint Kizito on GH LIVE on Youtube, Owu counseled the players to be more disciplined, determined, and dedicated.
According to Owu, players must remember that their career and destiny are at stake. “You have to know that this is your career and your destiny. Know that they didn’t bring you to Kumasi to come and play but to work,” he said.
Owu, known for his goalkeeping prowess and dedication to the sport, shared his own personal experience of resisting distractions during his playing days. He recalled how seven girls were brought to his house during his second stint at Kotoko, but he rejected them and told them he was in Kumasi to work and not to engage in personal affairs.
“They brought me seven girls to choose one in my house during my second time at Kotoko. But me too I came to work and work only, a certain girl brought them to my house”
“I rejected them and told them I was in Kumasi to work and not to engage myself in those things so I will urge the players to concentrate on their job,” Owu said.
Owu also cautioned against focusing on the salaries of foreign players, saying that everyone signed their contract differently.
“They shouldn’t also focus on the amount they pay foreign players because everyone signed their contract differently,” he said.
Owu made 10 appearances for the senior national team and also featured for Ashantigold, Ebusua Dwarfs, Al Masry and Sekondi Hasaacas.
