一Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has confirmed that defender Denis Nkrumah Korsah will not be part of the squad for the upcoming season.
Korsah, who joined the Phobians in 2022 from Ebusua Dwarfs, was notably absent during Hearts of Oak’s recent victory over Heart of Lions in the 2024 Gbese Mantse Homowo Charity Peace Cup. The Phobians secured the trophy after a 1-1 draw in regulation time and a tense penalty shootout win.
Following the match, Coach Ouattara revealed that Korsah would not be included in the team’s plans for the new campaign. “We are in a new era, and this time, it is not about names. The names are not important. It is a strategy we are putting in place to fit everyone,” the Ivorian tactician explained.
Ouattara also mentioned that while Michael Ampadu was sidelined due to injury, Korsah is no longer part of the squad. “Michael Ampadu is injured; that is why he didn’t play. But for Korsah, he is not with us anymore,” he added.
Korsah played a key role in Hearts of Oak’s success in 2022, helping the club secure both the FA Cup and President Cup. His impressive performances also earned him a maiden call-up to the Ghana national team that same year.
At 28 years old, Korsah is now expected to find a new club before the start of the Ghana Premier League season.
