Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya has tempered expectations for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, emphasizing a focus on securing maximum points rather than guaranteeing the league title.
Following a challenging season where the Porcupine Warriors finished sixth and Samartex clinched the championship, Kotoko has undergone significant squad changes. Despite the overhaul, Yahaya remains cautious but optimistic about the team’s prospects.
“We can’t raise our expectations too high. We’ve seen a lot of positives in our preseason, and we hope this will reflect in the league,” Yahaya stated.
“We can’t promise the Ghana Premier League title, but we aim to secure maximum points in every game, whether home or away.”
Asante Kotoko is gearing up for the 2024/25 season, having already secured two wins in preseason friendlies. Their next match will be a friendly against Medeama on Friday, marking the inauguration of the new TNA Park in Tarkwa.
Kotoko will kick off their league campaign against Karela United.
