Former Ghanaian international, William Tiero remains confident in Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite a surprising 1-0 defeat to Angola.
The loss, suffered at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, ended Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten streak at the venue.Following the Group F opener, Ghana ranks third with zero points, trailing Angola and Sudan, who both secured 1-0 victories over Ghana and Niger, respectively.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com, Tiero expressed optimism, “I still have hope because it’s just one game, and there are many more to come.
Playing Niger in Morocco will be beneficial because Morocco has great pitches. You see how well our players perform for their clubs on good pitches, and I expect them to beat Niger.
No one can blame the pitch there if we don’t.”Ghana will look to bounce back in their next qualifier against Niger on Monday, September 9th, as they aim to reignite their AFCON qualification campaign.
