Asante Kotoko triumphed over lower-tier side Bekwai Heroes 2-1 in a friendly match held at the Adako Jachie training ground on Sunday morning.
The game served as a warm-up for Kotoko, whose Ghana Premier League matchweek two fixture against Nsoatreman FC was postponed due to the latter’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kotoko took the lead early in the first half when Emmanuel Antwi curled in a precise free kick, giving the Porcupines a 1-0 advantage.
Bekwai Heroes quickly responded, leveling the score before halftime, leaving the game finely poised at 1-1 going into the break.In the second half, Kotoko regained control as Saaka Dauda found the back of the net after receiving a well-timed pass from Amidu Acquah. The goal proved decisive as the Porcupines held on to their 2-1 lead until the final whistle.
This victory provides a confidence boost for Kotoko as they prepare for their upcoming league game against Young Apostles next weekend.
