Asante Kotoko SC, set to represent Ghana at the prestigious Capital City Africa Cup in Washington DC, will depart for the USA on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
The team has received approval from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to participate in a high-profile international friendly against Major League Soccer (MLS) side DC United on October 12, 2024, at the state-of-the-art Audi Field in Washington DC.
This annual ceremonial match is organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the GFA and is part of the Ghana Week DC 2024 festivities, taking place from October 7-12, 2024. The clash between the two historic teams aims to amplify the celebration of Ghanaian culture in Washington, D.C.
This marks the second occasion a Ghanaian Premier League club will visit the United States to face an MLS side, following Medeama SC’s narrow 2-1 defeat in a similar friendly on October 14, 2023.
Asante Kotoko SC aims to make a significant impact on the international stage and showcase Ghanaian football talent.
Before their departure to the USA, the Porcupine Warriors will face the Accra Lions in a matchday five encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, October 6.
Currently, Kotoko sits second in the league standings with eight points, just one point behind leaders Medeama.
