Asante Kotoko is set to terminate the contracts of Sudanese players Esmat Abdalhamid Mohamed and AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub following their disappearance in the USA.
The Sudanese duo was part of a contingent of nine players and five officials who travelled to the United States on October 9, 2024, for a friendly match against DC United. Reports suggest that the players absconded from their hotel, as confirmed by CCTV footage showing them being picked up by a vehicle.
Esmat, a left-back, and AbdoelKarem Yagoub both joined Kotoko on season-long loans from Al Hilal Omdurman and Hay Alwady in Sudan, respectively.
According to Ghanasportspage.com sources, Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) has officially notified their parent clubs about the incident and has also informed the Ghana Football Association, requesting the termination of the players’ contracts.
Esmat and Yagoub each participated in two Ghana Premier League matches for the Porcupines before their unexpected exit.
