Ghana head coach Otto Addo has congratulated Sudan following the Black Stars’ 1-0 defeat in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match on Tuesday.
The match, played in Libya, marked the second encounter between the two teams after a goalless draw in the first leg.Speaking to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) media team, Addo commended Sudan for their passionate performance that earned them all three points. “Congratulations to Sudan.
Coach Kwesi Appiah has always been a gentleman before and after the game. They did well. They showed passion in their match, and I would like to congratulate them for this,” Addo stated.Despite the setback, Addo expressed his gratitude to his technical team for their unwavering support.
He also revealed that he had individual discussions with his players after the match to address specific issues, while emphasizing the importance of moving forward.”Surely, I want to thank the team for at least trying, knowing that it was not good enough.
We had a good talk afterward, and I had individual talks with players where we addressed certain issues and moments from the game. Everybody was down; it was a really hard pill to take. I also want to use this opportunity to thank the whole technical staff for supporting me, even in these tough times, because surely, Ghana should qualify for the AFCON,” Addo emphasized.
After Round 4 of the qualifiers, the Black Stars sit third in Group F, trailing Angola and Sudan in the standings as they continue their pursuit of AFCON qualification.
