Hearts of Oak fans are eager for a return to title contention in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, especially after the club narrowly avoided relegation on the final day in the past two seasons.
However, the Phobians have had a challenging start, with only two victories from their first seven matches, leaving them ninth on the league table with nine points, six behind the leaders. Following a goalless draw against Dreams FC on Sunday, Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara tempered expectations, declining to make any bold promises about the team’s chances of lifting the league trophy.
Speaking to the press, Ouattara emphasized the importance of focusing on each match rather than making early claims. “When we start in the league, everywhere in the world, everybody knows the big teams. We know our objective, but we can’t come and say things like that,” Ouattara stated.
“We are playing; we play the game for up to 34 matches. After that, we make an assessment to know what happened.”He added, “We are continuing; we are not coming as people who are already dying.
We are coming to fight for something, something that is there to get. ”Hearts of Oak will aim to improve their position as they prepare to face Bibiani GoldStars at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium this Sunday in match week eight.
