Angola’s head coach, Pedro Goncalves, expressed his admiration for Ghana’s football legacy but stressed his team’s commitment to winning as they prepare to face the Black Stars in a 2025 AFCON qualifier on November 15 in Luanda.
Although Ghana’s recent form has been inconsistent, Goncalves acknowledged the strength of the country’s football culture and talent, particularly players who are making strides internationally. “Ghana is a country of football, and I grew up watching the Black Stars with big names,” Goncalves told Ghanasportspage.com
“They have wonderful players worldwide, including Europe and Portugal. But unfortunately, they’re not in the best moment now. I appreciate the work Otto Addo is doing for Ghana, even though it’s a challenging time. It’s just an unfortunate situation, but this is football”.
With Angola already securing a spot in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, Goncalves highlighted his team’s positive mindset and approach to Friday’s game.
“We’re in a good moment. We go into games with the mindset to beat the opponent, honor our country, and enjoy the match,” he added.
“This is our philosophy, and we will be brave on the pitch and try to beat one of Africa’s best on Friday.
”Following the match against Ghana, Angola will complete their Group F campaign on November 18 against Sudan in Togo.
