Ghanaian striker Jonathan Sowah is set to leave Libya for Tanzania after Al Nasr Benghazi accepted a $220,000 transfer offer from Singida Black Stars SC.
The transfer was confirmed today by African football expert Micky Jnr, with personal terms also agreed. Sowah, 25, will join a growing contingent of Ghanaian players at Singida Black Stars, which includes Ibrahim Imoro, Emmanuel Keyekeh, and Victorien Adebayor.
The deal will be officially completed once the Tanzanian transfer window opens in the second week of December. Sowah, who had been contracted to Al Nasr until December 31, 2025, joined the Libyan club on January 27, 2024, for a reported fee of €200,000.
In his time at Al Nasr, he scored three goals in seven CAF Champions League appearances, although the team fell short of the title, with Egypt’s Al-Ahly securing the victory.
The forward also made an impact in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season, scoring four goals in eight matches for Medeama SC.
Sowah played a key role in Medeama’s title-winning campaign in the 2022-2023 season, scoring 12 goals and contributing one assist in 20 league appearances.
His excellent form earned him a call-up to the Black Stars for the 2023 AFCON under former head coach Chris Hughton, though Ghana was eliminated in the group stage.
