Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has openly acknowledged that all is not well with the Black Stars following their 2-1 defeat to Niger in the final qualifier for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Okraku expressed his deep concern over the team’s disappointing performance and vowed to tackle the issues affecting the national team.

“From the highest heights of world football on March 29, 2022, to the lowest ebb of AFCON qualifying matches, my heart bleeds,” Okraku shared on Facebook. “This is definitely not what we wanted or expected. At this point, only cool heads can prevail. As leaders of our sport, we will stay united, be honest with ourselves, and fix this problem.”

Okraku called for unity and collaboration as the team seeks to recover from this setback and regain their former success.

“The road to full recovery after normalization is bumpy and rough, but with collective effort and patience, we will rise. Ghana, our beloved country, will prevail. As both a fan and the leader of the Black Stars, I share in your pain, but we will overcome this challenge,” he reassured fans.

Ghana’s failure to secure a victory in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers left them at the bottom of Group F, resulting in their elimination from the tournament in Morocco. Okraku’s statement serves as a rallying call for the nation to come together and support efforts to restore the Black Stars to their former glory.
