Communications Director of Aduana Stars, Evans Oppong, has conceded that Asante Kotoko deserved their 2-0 victory over his side in their Ghana Premier League clash on Sunday.
The defeat at the Nana Agyemang Park marked matchday 12 of the league, with Kotoko securing the win through a brilliant free-kick by defender Patrick Asiedu and a composed finish by Albert Amoah.
Speaking to Kessben FM, Oppong acknowledged Kotoko’s dominance, saying, “I will congratulate Kotoko for this victory but honestly, I am not happy. Kotoko is one of our biggest rivals in football, and I believe they were better than us and deserve the win. “We’ve let the people of Dormaa down.
It is an unfortunate result because that is not the result we expected,” he lamented. The defeat proved to be the final blow for Aduana Stars head coach Yaw Acheampong, as the club announced they had mutually parted ways following a string of poor results.
Acheampong’s tenure was marred by inconsistency, with the two-time league champions managing just two wins, six draws, and four losses in 12 matches this season. The Fire Boys currently sit 13th on the league table with 12 points, far below expectations for a team with such pedigree.
The management will now focus on stabilizing the team as they search for a new head coach to turn their fortunes around.
