Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have appointed club legend Malik Jabir as their new Technical Director, marking a significant step in the club’s ongoing restructuring efforts.
The Porcupine Warriors recently reshuffled their Interim Management Committee (IMC), with head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum stepping down from his IMC role to focus entirely on his coaching duties.
This directive, sanctioned by the club’s Life Patron, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Manhyia Palace, is aimed at ensuring Ogum can dedicate his efforts toward achieving the team’s sporting objectives.
To further strengthen their technical team, the IMC brought in Malik Jabir to provide additional expertise and support to Dr. Ogum as the club navigates its challenges this season. Former Technical Director Coach James Kwesi Appiah will remain as a member of the club’s management team, playing a vital role in Kotoko’s future.
This decision comes in response to the team’s inconsistent performances earlier this season, which included a five-match winless streak in the Ghana Premier League.
However, Kotoko showed a glimpse of recovery last weekend, defeating Aduana Stars 2-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park to bring an end to their poor run of form.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently 7th in the Ghana Premier League standings with 18 points from 12 matches, as they aim to leverage their restructured leadership to climb higher in the league table.
