Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has praised striker Albert Amoah following his match-winning performance in the team’s dramatic victory over Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
Amoah played the hero in a tense encounter, scoring his seventh goal of the season deep into injury time after a defensive mix-up between Hearts’ defender Kelvin Osei Asibey and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare. His late strike secured a crucial 1-0 win for Kotoko, extending their winning streak over their rivals to four matches.
In a post-match interview, Ogum acknowledged the strong performance of Hearts defender Osei Asibey, despite the unfortunate error that led to the goal.
However, he emphasized that Amoah’s decisive contribution was nothing short of remarkable. “Osei Asibey is an excellent player, very solid and direct in his play.
He played very well, and I wasn’t surprised when he was announced as the man of the match before the goal. I didn’t dispute it, but I think Albert did the unthinkable.
Before the game, I told him he is an extravagant player,” Ogum said. The victory sees Asante Kotoko rise to sixth position with 21 points, while Hearts of Oak drop to seventh.
