Hearts of Oak legend Amankwah Mireku has sharply criticized defender Kelvin Osei Asibey for his recurring mistakes, which have cost the club valuable points in the Ghana Premier League.
Asibey’s latest error, a miscommunication with goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, allowed Kotoko striker Albert Amoah to seize an opportunity and score the decisive goal in the Super Clash, securing a 1-0 victory for Asante Kotoko.
Mireku, in a candid interview on Akoma FM, did not hold back in his criticism, pointing out Asibey’s overconfidence on the ball as a persistent issue for the Phobians. “The team is losing points because of his overconfidence with the ball, which has become a feature of his game,” Mireku said.
The former Hearts captain further emphasized that this mistake was not an isolated incident. He claimed Asibey’s errors have now cost the team points on at least three occasions this season.
“This is the third time his errors have cost Hearts of Oak points, and just as coaches are sacked when their mistakes cost the team, players who consistently cost the team points should be sidelined,” Mireku added.
Hearts of Oak currently sit in 7th place on the GPL table with 19 points, as they look to improve their form and avoid further costly errors.
