Dreams FC head coach Karim Zito is confident in his team’s strategy to stop Asante Kotoko in their upcoming match on matchday 14 of the Ghana Premier League.
Zito, who described Kotoko as a technically sound side, believes his players are highly motivated when facing a top club like the Porcupine Warriors. The match is set to take place on Saturday, December 21, at the Tuba AstroTurf in Kasoa.
In a media briefing, Zito acknowledged Kotoko’s strengths but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to neutralize their threats. “We all saw Kotoko against Hearts of Oak. Tactically, technically, they are very sound. Physically, they are very sound,” Zito said.
“So, we have to draw our own program on how to stop them and then make a meaningful impact after stopping them.”Zito emphasized that simply stopping Kotoko would not be enough.
“It’s not just about stopping them. After stopping them, we have to track them, get free to play, and apply our tactics effectively,” he added.
“We have to give them the necessary respect outside the game, but when the game begins, we know we are playing Kotoko, and it’s a big game for us.”Last season, Zito’s squad achieved an impressive double over Kotoko, winning both encounters without conceding a goal.
Dreams FC will be looking to continue their strong record against Kotoko, as the Porcupine Warriors have struggled in their last four league meetings with them.
However, Dreams FC have faced a difficult start to the current season, sitting second from bottom in the standings with just 12 points from 12 matches, having won only two games.
Despite their challenging position, Zito remains determined to make an impact in this crucial encounter.
