Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team displayed a resolute performance to secure a 0-0 draw against Ghana’s Black Galaxies in the first leg of their 2025 CHAN qualifiers on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The much-anticipated encounter, featuring only home-based players from both nations, saw both sides battle fiercely for an edge ahead of the second leg.
Ghana, coached by Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, started on the front foot, dominating possession and pressing high. Despite their efforts, Nigeria’s well-organized defense thwarted multiple attempts, ensuring limited chances in a cagey first half.
In the second half, the Black Galaxies ramped up their attacking intensity, but Nigeria’s defense, led by a composed backline, remained unyielding.
The Super Eagles B also showed flashes of creativity on the counterattack but were unable to breach Ghana’s defense. The game ended in a stalemate, with neither side able to find the decisive goal.
Speaking after the match, Coach Didi Dramani expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back in the return leg. “We created opportunities but lacked the final touch. We’ll address that and go to Nigeria with a plan to win,” he said.
The second leg is scheduled for Saturday, December 28, in Nigeria. The stakes are high, with the winner earning a coveted spot in the 2025 CHAN Tournament.
Ghana will need to step up their attack, while Nigeria will aim to leverage home advantage to seal qualification.
