Dutch international of Ghanaian descent, Memphis Depay, has urged Asante Kotoko players to secure victory in their crucial Ghana Premier League clash against Bibiani GoldStars on Friday.
Depay, who currently plays for Brazilian giants Corinthians, is in Ghana for the Christmas holidays and has been engaging in various activities, including charity work. On Thursday, he visited Kotoko’s training grounds at Adako Jachie, where he motivated the players ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
Addressing the team, the former Manchester United and Barcelona star encouraged them to push for maximum points.
“You guys need the three points to catch up with other teams in the league. I wish you all the best in tomorrow’s game. My eyes are now on the team. Now, I’m involved—let’s get to the next level,” Depay said.
Asante Kotoko will host Bibiani GoldStars in matchday 15 of the domestic top-flight at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday. The game promises to be a thrilling encounter as both sides aim to strengthen their title ambitions.
Kotoko currently sits 5th on the league table with 24 points, while GoldStars hold 2nd place with 27 points.
