Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has shrugged off criticisms labeling his squad as weak, asserting that his priority is maintaining consistency and securing victories.
Speaking after his team’s narrow 1-0 triumph over Legon Cities FC in the Ghana Premier League, Ouattara emphasized the club’s determination to stay competitive.
“Some people say we have a weak team, but we’re proving ourselves. Every match is a challenge for Hearts of Oak. Right now, our focus is on securing maximum points in every game,” Ouattara told AFA Sports.
Reflecting on the game, the coach acknowledged his team’s struggles, particularly in the first half, but praised their ability to capitalize on opportunities. “It’s normal to lose some of the 50/50 battles.
When the opposition fights, you have to fight back, but we lacked that in the first half. Fortunately, we seized our chance and scored,” he explained.
The hard-fought victory propels Hearts of Oak to second place in the Ghana Premier League standings, reinforcing their position as title contenders.
