Nora Hauptle has signed a two-year contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to manage the senior women’s national team, the Copper Queens.
The Swiss tactician previously coached Ghana’s senior women’s team, the Black Queens, a role she assumed in 2023 after succeeding Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, who had been at the helm since 2019.
During her tenure, Häuptle led the Black Queens to notable achievements, including qualification for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and a historic triumph in the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup.
She also guided the team to an impressive run in the Women’s Olympic qualifiers, narrowly losing to Zambia in the final stages.
Despite her successes, Häuptle opted not to extend her contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after her initial deal expired. She has now taken up the role of leading the Copper Queens, following the dismissal of Bruce Mwape.
Before coaching the Black Queens, Häuptle served as a technical advisor for Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team during the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
