Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko played out a 1-1 draw in an intense encounter at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday, with both teams settling for a share of the spoils.
The result ended Kotoko’s four-match winning streak and also halted Medeama’s bid for back-to-back victories under interim coach Evans Adotey.
Kwame Opoku opened the scoring for Kotoko just before halftime in the 44th minute, continuing his fine run of form with goals in successive matches since his return to the club.
Kotoko, looking for a fifth consecutive win, controlled the first half with a well-organized defense. However, Medeama came out stronger in the second half, with coach Adotey’s tactical adjustments proving effective.
Substitute Kamaradini Mamudu equalized midway through the second half, capitalizing on a defensive mistake to spark celebrations among the home fans.
Both teams pressed for a late winner, but neither could find the decisive goal, leaving the match evenly balanced. The result sees Kotoko lose ground in the race for the top of the league, while Medeama showed resilience to earn a point on home soil.
Kotoko will aim to regroup and bounce back in their next fixture, while Medeama continues their search for consistent performances.
