Asante Kotoko’s Head of Sporting Affairs, James Kwesi Appiah, has underscored the importance of winning the Ghana Premier League (GPL) this season to honor the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Appiah expressed confidence in the team’s potential to secure the league title and qualify for continental football next season.
“I believe the coach knows that he should try and do everything he can to ensure that we can go to Africa next season,” Appiah stated.
The former Black Stars coach highlighted the club’s current squad depth and the significant investments made by Otumfuo, emphasizing that delivering the league title would be a fitting tribute to the Ashanti King.
“Looking at the players we have now and the investment the King is making, I believe it would be an honor to win the league and qualify for Africa next season to make him happy,” he added.
Appiah further praised the team’s recent performances and expressed optimism about their chances. “So far, we are playing very well, and by God’s help, I feel that if we continue fighting, we will automatically win the GPL title.”
Currently, Kotoko sit sixth in the league standings with 28 points, just two points adrift of the leaders, Kpando Heart of Lions.
