Former Hearts of Oak player, Francis Jojo Bossman has opined that Otto Addo does not qualify to be a Black Stars coach, claiming that the role requires experienced managers.
The former Black Stars player claimed that Otto Addo’s Curriculum vitae does not qualify him to be the head coach of the four-time African Champions.
Speaking in an interview with Ghana Sports Page, he emphasized that Ghana possesses talented players, but their performance is being hindered by inadequate coaching.
“I think the GFA should appoint experienced coaches to handle the team. Our players are not bad, but our technical bench is inexperienced,” he said.
He further stressed that Ghana has capable coaches who could take charge of the national team, insisting that the current setup lacks the required experience to elevate the Black Stars.
“I think we should hire experienced hands, and we have some in Ghana. I’m not saying Otto Addo and John Paintsil are not good, but if you look at Otto Addo’s CV, he is not somebody who should lead the Black Stars,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
The call for a more seasoned coaching team comes in the wake of Ghana’s recent struggles, including failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite growing criticism, the GFA has expressed confidence in Otto Addo, entrusting him with the task of guiding Ghana through the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
