Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has admitted that his side struggled to break down a well-organized Karela United side following a hard-fought encounter.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Ogum acknowledged the physicality of Karela and their defensive approach, which made it difficult for his team to find spaces.
“The opposition was very physical. They came very strongly in terms of tactics; they sat very deep in their own half. We tried as much as possible to get close to the ball, but they made it very difficult for us to penetrate,” Ogum remarked.
Despite the tactical challenges, the Porcupine Warriors secured a narrow 1-0 win thanks to Justice Blay’s penalty in the second half after Baba Yahaya was fouled in the box.
The win has sent Kotoko to the top of the table with 34 points while the win is their 10th of the season after 18 games.
Asante Kotoko will now shift their focus to their next fixture, where they visit Nsoatreman as they continue their quest for their 26th league title.
