Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) president Alhaji Raji has heaped praise on Kwesi Nyantakyi, labelling him as the best-ever Ghana Football Association (GFA) president.
Speaking with Asempa FM, Raji highlighted Nyantakyi’s accomplishments during his tenure, emphasizing the transformative impact he had on Ghanaian football.
“Kwesi Nyantakyi is the best GFA president to have ever emerged from this country,” Raji stated.
“He achieved a lot of things when he was in office. His only challenge was the other stuff that we all know, but for me, he remains the best-ever GFA president,” he added.
Nyantakyi served as GFA president from 2005 to 2018, overseeing some of Ghana’s most successful football moments.
Under his leadership, the Black Stars qualified for three consecutive FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014), with the team reaching the quarter-finals in 2010—an unprecedented feat for Ghana.
Additionally, the national U-20 team won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009, becoming the first African team to achieve the milestone.
Despite his successes, Nyantakyi’s tenure ended in controversy when he was banned by FIFA in 2018 following an investigative exposé that linked him to corruption.
