The Ghana Football Association has released a statement after meeting the 18 Ghana Premier League Clubs on Thursday, 6th February 2025 in the wake of the recent crowd violence that marred the game between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko SC.

The Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs, condemn in the strongest terms all acts of hooliganism and violence that have marred our beautiful game in recent times.
The tragic incident that occurred at the Nsoatreman FC vs. Asante Kotoko SC match, resulting in the loss of life of a loyal Kotoko fan, Francis Nana Frimpong (aka Pooley), is particularly disturbing and unacceptable.
We stand in solidarity with the family of the deceased and extend our deepest condolences to them as well as to the entire Asante Kotoko SC fraternity.
As GPL clubs, we are committed to promoting fair play, sportsmanship, and respect for the game, its officials, and spectators. We will not tolerate any form of hooliganism, violence, or intimidation at our match centers.
In the meeting held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the GFA Secretariat, all Premier League Clubs have agreed to an enhanced match day security protocols.
These enhanced protocols will form basis of an Executive Council meeting of the GFA on Friday, February 7, 2025 after which the comprehensive guidelines shall be published ahead of the resumption of the premier league season.
We pledge to work hand-in-hand with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that those responsible for these criminal acts are apprehended and brought to justice.
Together, we pledge to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all football fans and stakeholders.
Let us unite in our quest for fair play, respect, and the advancement of Ghanaian football.
