“It is not done yet” – Otto Addo warns against complacency after win over Madagascar

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has urged his team to stay focused despite their convincing 3-0 victory over Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars delivered a dominant performance, with Thomas Partey scoring a brace and Mohammed Kudus adding another, while Jordan Ayew provided all three assists.

Despite the emphatic win, Addo insists that the job is far from over as Ghana aims to secure a place in the next World Cup.

Speaking after the game, Otto Addo acknowledged the team’s impressive display but reminded everyone that qualification is still a long road.

“Like I said, it is not done yet. We still have to work hard. This is football, and things can turn very fast,” he stated.

Addo highlighted the challenge of maintaining momentum in international football, where national teams have to wait months before playing together again.

“As a national team coach, you always have to wait for some months before you can get the team together to play again.”

Despite his cautious approach, Addo expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance.

“I am very happy with the result and the way we played. It’s well deserved, and we are looking forward.”

With this victory, Ghana now sits atop Group I with 15 points from six matches, strengthening their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars have been in fine form, showing improvement under Addo’s leadership.
