Sports Minister Kofi Adams has defended the decision to keep the Black Stars’ budget for their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar undisclosed.
Adams explained that revealing the budget before the matches could have distracted the team’s focus. Speaking in an interview, he questioned the necessity of publicizing financial details, emphasizing that it would not have contributed to the team’s performance.
“People kept asking me to disclose the budget, but I kept wondering—what difference would it make for the team ahead of the games?” he stated.
He added that such matters are carefully considered before decisions are made, ensuring that unnecessary distractions are avoided.
The strategy appeared effective, as the Black Stars delivered dominant performances, securing a 5-0 win over Chad and a 3-0 victory against Madagascar to strengthen their qualification bid.
With these results, Ghana now leads Group I with 15 points from six games, edging closer to securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
