Golden Kicks assistant manager Dr Joy Say has boldly declared his team’s intentions ahead of the MTN FA Cup final against Asante Kotoko, following their impressive 3-1 semifinal victory over Attran Di Vissa.
In an interview with Ghana Sports Page, Dr Say revealed that from the outset, winning the FA Cup and securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup has been the club’s main focus, especially after their hopes of qualifying for the Premier League faded.
Looking ahead to the final against giants Kotoko, Dr. Say issued a strong statement:
“We are prepared to beat Kotoko the same way we are prepared for Africa,” he confirmed during an interview with Sir Martin on ghanasportpage.com.
“We understood that we can’t qualify for Premiership so winning the FA Cup has always been our target,” he stated.
Golden Kicks, founded in 2016, have been one of the standout stories of this year’s competition, and their rise has been driven by belief, preparation, and ambition.
“We want to play Africa this year and we need to win the FA Cup to do that. We’ve prepared for that and come May 15, we will win the cup,” Dr. Say confidently added.
He emphasized that the club’s progress is not by luck, but by strategic planning and resilience.
“Golden Kicks has been in existence since 2016. If we do not have resources, why would we exist and fight to come this far?”
The final promises to be a thrilling encounter as underdogs Golden Kicks aim to upset one of Ghana’s most storied clubs and make history by clinching their first-ever major trophy and earning a place on the continental stage.
