Asante Kotoko have taken a significant step toward signing Hamza Issa from rivals Accra Hearts of Oak, as a member of the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), Nana Apinkra, has met with Hearts management in South Africa to initiate discussions.
The meeting, which took place as both clubs conduct off-season activities abroad, focused on the potential transfer of the promising forward, who has been on Kotoko’s radar following a breakout campaign with the Phobians.
According to sources close to the talks, negotiations are ongoing, and formal club-to-club discussions are expected to begin in the coming days. While no agreement has yet been reached, the meeting marks the beginning of what could be one of the most high-profile domestic transfers of the window.
Hamza Issa, known for his pace, skill, and eye for goal, has drawn interest from several top clubs, but Kotoko appear determined to secure his signature as they reinforce their attack ahead of the 2025/26 season.
He scored five goals in the league last season, finishing as Hearts of Oak’s second highest scorer.
