Asante Kotoko have officially announced the signing of experienced central defender Zackaria Fuseini on a three-year contract, adding steel and leadership to their backline ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The 27-year-old joins the Porcupine Warriors from Berekum Chelsea, where he emerged as one of the league’s most consistent defenders, making 133 appearances since debuting as a teenager. A former Black Meteors defender, Fuseini also spent time abroad with San Fernando CD in Spain, gaining vital international exposure.
Known for his composure, game-reading ability, and leadership qualities, Fuseini captained Berekum Chelsea and was widely regarded as the heart of their defense. His arrival is expected to add much-needed experience and calm to Kotoko’s backline as the club undergoes a significant rebuild.
Speaking to Kotoko Media, the centre-back expressed his excitement and ambition:
“I’m honoured to be joining Asante Kotoko. I believe this is the platform I’ve always hoped for to catapult my career to the next level. My focus is to win laurels with the club and to work hard for a place in the Black Stars, because I know I’m good enough.”
He added:
“Some say this move is a few years late, but I don’t believe that. I’m arriving mature and experienced, and I’m ready to handle the pressure that comes with playing for such a big club.”
Fuseini becomes the latest addition to Kotoko’s growing list of new signings as they aim to re-establish dominance both domestically and in continental competitions.
