Asante Kotoko will officially depart for South Africa on July 20 to begin their much-anticipated pre-season training tour, as the club steps up preparations for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup campaigns.
The South African trip forms part of Kotoko’s broader strategy to rebuild and condition the squad under a revamped technical direction.
The team is expected to engage in high-intensity training sessions, play a series of friendly matches, and finalize tactical setups for the new season.
Preparations are already underway behind the scenes, as IMC member Kwasi Appiah has finalized arrangements for training facilities and potential opponents for the club’s pre-season matches, including a game against Kaizer Chiefs.
The team is expected to embark on the trip with a 45-man contingent, excluding Kwesi Appiah who will have national team assignment with Sudan.
With several new signings—including Hubert Gyau, Zackaria Fuseini, and Johnson Oppong Owusu joining the squad, the tour will also serve as a vital opportunity for squad integration, fitness building, and strategic planning.
An official itinerary and list of friendly fixtures are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile the club will battle with South African side, Kaizer Chiefs for a Toyota Cup.
The Toyota Cup heads to Durban this July for a heavyweight-clash between Kaizer Chiefs FC and Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC.
This anticipated match is scheduled for Saturday, 26 July, 2025 at Moses Mabhida Stadium, the fixture brings together two clubs with proud legacies, passionate fanbases, and a shared place in the heritage of African football.
