Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has issued an official apology to the club and its stakeholders following controversial comments he made during a live interview on Pure FM Sports earlier today.
In a formal statement released on July 11, 2025, Blay admitted that his remarks were heavily influenced by deep personal emotions tied to his recent departure from the Porcupine Warriors.
“Upon reflection, I recognise that my words may have caused disappointment or offense to the club, my former teammates, the passionate supporters, and specific individuals whose names were mentioned,” he stated.
Blay extended an “unreserved apology” to Asante Kotoko SC, including its management, technical team, players, and supporters. He emphasized that it was never his intention to tarnish the image of the club or diminish the contributions of those he worked with during his time in Kumasi.
“Asante Kotoko holds a special place in my heart and has played an instrumental role in my growth and career as a professional footballer,” he added.
“The platform and support I received will always be appreciated and cherished.”
Taking full responsibility for his actions, Blay acknowledged the importance of professionalism and emotional discipline, promising to learn from the incident to become not just a better player, but a better person.
“This experience has served as a powerful reminder of the values of emotional discipline, humility, and maturity—on and off the pitch.”
He concluded the statement with a heartfelt wish for the club’s continued growth and success in all its future endeavors.
The apology comes hours after Blay made headlines for controversial claims involving former teammates, prompting widespread reaction from fans and the football community.
