David Peter Winnie, lawyer for former Hearts of Oak Technical Director Rene Hiddink, has clarified that the amount the Ghanaian giants owe his client is closer to $170,000.
His revelation debunk earlier reports which suggested that the club owe their former employee $150,000.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ghanasportspage.com, Winnie expressed surprise at the figure being quoted publicly.
“I don’t know where they got that sum of money from as I didn’t tell them anything. I told them that it was a significant sum of money. I think they have just taken a guess,” he stated.
“The actual amount is close to $170,000”, he clarified.
The revelation comes after FIFA ruled in favour of Hiddink, ordering Hearts of Oak to pay his outstanding wages following his abrupt dismissal just eight months into a three-year contract.
Hearts of Oak face the threat of a FIFA-imposed transfer ban if they fail to meet the financial obligations by the August 8, 2025 deadline.
