Sudan head coach James Kwesi Appiah has been left frustrated by the Sudan Football Association’s delay in securing his flight arrangements ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), GhanaSportspage can confirm.
With just four days to the start of the tournament — which kicks off on August 2 and is being co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania — Appiah is yet to receive his flight ticket to join the Sudanese delegation.
Sudan, drawn in Group D, will face tough competition from Congo Brazzaville, Nigeria, and Senegal.
Their opening match is scheduled for August 5, but the late travel logistics have cast a shadow over the team’s final preparations.
Sources close to the coach reveal that the delay is causing concern within the technical team, with crucial pre-tournament sessions likely to be missed if the issue is not resolved swiftly.
Appiah, who took over the Sudanese national team in 2023, has been instrumental in shaping a competitive side and will hope the administrative setbacks do not derail their tournament campaign.
