Ghanaian international and former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where he was formally charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The 32-year-old is accused of committing the offences against three women, with the incidents reportedly taking place between 2021 and 2022, during his time at the English Premier League club.
According to court proceedings, he faces five charges of rape involving two women.
One additional charge of sexual assault has been brought against him in relation to a third woman.
Under the conditions of his bail, Partey:
Must not contact any of the three alleged victims.
Must notify police of any permanent change of address.
Must inform authorities ahead of any international travel.
His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, has stated that Partey “denies all the charges against him”, and added that he welcomes “the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
