Aspiring National Circles Council (NCC) Chairman for Asante Kotoko, Solomon Ofosu-Ware, popularly known as Chairman Solo, has laid out an ambitious vision for the club’s supporters’ front as he campaigns for the top job ahead of the August 24 elections.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Chairman Solo emphasized that the core mandate of a supporters’ leader is to mobilize fans to fill stadiums and provide unwavering support for the team.
“The most important mandate as a supporters’ leader is to mobilize fans to go to the stadium,” he stated.
Beyond just attendance, he highlighted the broader responsibilities of the NCC leadership:
“Aside from that, help in the protection of the team – both spiritual and physical. Also, help in mobilizing funds for the team so that the leaders will have the financial backing to appoint good coaches and sign good players. That’s the only way to win trophies and bring glory to the fans.”
Chairman Solo reiterated his strong support for the Fabu Census initiative, describing it as a game-changer in securing long-term sustainability for Kotoko.
“This is why Fabu Census is dear to my heart. I’m willing to share the gospel of the initiative and get everyone on board. My aim is to get one million fans registered. This will help the team pay the players well and keep them.”
He believes competitive salaries are key to retaining talent:
“I think if a player is paid at least $4,000, that player will not be in a rush to leave and could do something significant with the money by the end of his stay at the club.”
“Maintaining the players will make us competitive in Africa and possibly win it with consistency.”
With his strong grassroots support and history of donations to the club, including 50 pairs of Nike boots and past financial support, Chairman Solo is presenting himself as a candidate who blends passion with a practical roadmap for Kotoko’s progress.
