Villarreal CF have officially confirmed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The club announced that an agreement has been reached with the experienced player, who will begin training with his new teammates tomorrow.
Partey, born in Krobo Odumase on June 13, 1993, is widely regarded as a complete midfielder. Known for his stamina, ball-winning abilities, and powerful mid-range shots, he is expected to bring both experience and dynamism to Villarreal’s midfield.
He is also capable of initiating deep-lying playmaking moves and driving through opposition lines.
The 31-year-old brings a wealth of international experience, having earned over 50 caps for Ghana. At club level, he has previously represented Arsenal FC, Atlético de Madrid, UD Almería, and RCD Mallorca.
Partey’s trophy cabinet includes the FA Community Shield with Arsenal (2023/24), LaLiga title (2020/21), UEFA Super Cup (2018/19), and UEFA Europa League (2017/18) with Atlético Madrid.
However, Villarreal also acknowledged that Partey is currently involved in an ongoing legal matter in England.
The club stated that the player denies all charges and maintains his innocence. Respecting the principle of presumption of innocence, Villarreal indicated it would refrain from further comment due to legal restrictions in England.
In closing, the Spanish side reaffirmed its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and zero tolerance for any form of violence or discrimination, emphasizing its stance against racism, xenophobia, and any behavior that undermines human dignity.
